All SmartMeter components work in conjunction to become an intelligent client for the Transaction Management System (TMS) head-end application. The ANSI C12.19 meter provides all standard metering functions and acts as the database for the integrated device by storing metering data in ANSI tables. The SmartModule is responsible for monitoring various tables within the meter, executing scheduled tasks, monitoring for power outages or other alarm conditions, and controlling end devices on the ZigBee network.
