The Alliance expands its network of Zigbee certification labs with the addition of Element’s Irvine, California office
DAVIS, California – June 18, 2019 – The Zigbee Alliance, an organization of hundreds of companies creating, maintaining, and delivering open, global standards for the Internet of Things (IoT), today announced that Element Materials Technology (Element), one of their authorized test houses, will now provide Zigbee testing services at Element™s Irvine, California location. This expansion of services will provide Alliance member companies with a new location for formal certification testing from an approved and authorized test house in North America.
Expanding Test Services Allows for IoT Growth
Element is a long-standing partner and member of the Zigbee Alliance. This new addition of services in their Irvine laboratory illustrates the growth of the Smart Home market. Element plays a key role in the certification process for Alliance members by facilitating testing services and assisting members through the testing process. œStringent testing is a critical step in ensuring interoperability, said Tobin Richardson, CEO and President of the Zigbee Alliance. œWe are excited that Element will be expanding and providing these services and aiding developers and manufacturers in the process of testing and creating new innovative products for the North American Smart Home market.
Element Moves to Simplify the Development Process for Zigbee Alliance Members
Speaking about the launch, Ognjen Starovic, Division Director, Aerospace PQT, UK at Element commented, œWe are delighted to be able to offer our customers this new Zigbee certification test service from our Irvine laboratory. Customers now have the opportunity to combine their usual FCC and NRTL mark testing with Zigbee certification testing at a single site, saving them both time and money. The test service will be delivered by our experts who have extensive experience with testing Zigbee products and will make use of the official Zigbee Alliance ZTT tool, which was originally developed by the Zigbee team within Element. Element™s testing includes Zigbee pre-testing, protocol testing, and certification testing. The addition of Zigbee test services will complement existing EMC and safety test services that have been available from the Irvine site for some time.Element utilizes their developed Zigbee Tracer variant, a USB dongle, in their testing services. The tracer also allows manufacturers of Zigbee products to perform testing of their products at all stages of development.
