UPDATE: Retired Lakeland deputy chief with Alzheimer’s found safe in St. Petersburg

A retired Lakeland Police Department deputy leader recognized with Alzheimer’s and dementia who went missing after leaving a domestic in Lakeland on Wednesday afternoon turned into determined secure Friday in St. Petersburg.

Officers said a registration code reader detected Clarence Grier’s purple 1998 Ford F-150, with tag wide variety ID49LX, north of Ocala round 5:30 a.M. Thursday headed northbound on Jacksonville Road at County Road 326.

Police stated Grier became remaining visible leaving a home on West eighth Street in Lakeland.

Officers said Grier worked for the Lakeland Police Department for more than 34 years.
