ubisys Compact7B stack including ZDD feature on alpha sco lead reference platform
By ubisys technologies GmbH
Zigbee Direct combines the proven Zigbee wireless mesh with the ubiquity of Bluetooth. And the ubisys Zigbee Direct Device is the perfect implementation to enable this new era of comfort and ease of use. It sports a breadth of exciting features and provides unparalleled performance when it comes to tunneling and routing that really sets our solutions apart. Carefully engineered to meet the challenges of quasi-concurrent IEEE 802.15.4 and Bluetooth Low Energy SoCs, this ZDD reference implementation uses modern software engineering methods to encapsulate and abstract away platform specifics. Adding Zigbee Direct Device support to your light bulbs and other IoT gear running on dual-mode 15.4/BLE hardware could not possibly be any easier. Just add the Zigbee Direct cluster to your existing product and… done!
Our reference implementation adapts to the device’s role in the network. Whether it is an end-device, router or even the trust center of the network – all roles are instantly supported in meaningful ways without any modifications by product manufacturers.
We have chosen our α Sco platform as the lead platform for this reference implementation, because it features ubisys’ carefully engineered Zigbee core stack, Zigbee Green Power stack, and Zigbee Application Framework integrated in an environment that is powerful, scalable and fun to work with.
This platform comprises the Qorvo QPG7015M multi-protocol, multi-channel communications controller with ConcurrentConnect capabilities. Sharing a single radio and antenna amongst multiple protocols, or multiple instances of the same protocol, avoids the pitfalls and expenses of multiple radios in one product. This is particularly useful for Zigbee 3.0 products with Zigbee Direct support.
The platform’s modular architecture enables state-of-the-art, feature-rich products with superior performance, security and field-proven robustness. Providing developers with the power of C++ dramatically reduces time-to-market and helps keeping maintenance a snap. Building on almost 15 years of experience in Zigbee platforms, this.
A member of the ubisys BLEND/Z family, it seamlessly combines Zigbee 3.0 and Bluetooth Low Energy for simplified commissioning and allowing intriguing new use cases. This combination is also what inspired the name of this platform: The ubisys α Sco platform is named after Alpha Scorpii, the twin-star comprising a red supergiant, Antares A, and its profound blue companion, Antares B. This metaphor alludes to the symbiotic nature of this dynamic multi-protocol platform.
Other platforms suitable for the same ZDD implementation are the QPG6095, QPG6100 and QPG6105 with further devices in the pipeline.
